Why should use blogs in teaching and learning the English language? I think using a blog, it can be easier for us to learn, to open our minds to find a lot of information, and we can be more creative in providing ideas that we have, although I think it's complicated to learn to use the blog, but it was very helpful to our knowledge.

teaching learning with blog or internet have 2 side, plus and minus. internet it just like a virus. if we know how to handle it, it can be a vaccine but if we cann't, it will kill us.
let's start from the positive, by using blog, our teaching learning procces will be more simple, we dont have to go to the campus, feel like in hell when in the class room, or facing the traffic jam on the road everyday

just imagine if we stayyed at home all days

Why should use blog?
Because we are 21st century teacher wanna be. We are not living in primitive era. According to the video that I’ve ever watched in the first meeting of ICT-2 subject, I’ve got my own opinion. We’ve made a start and we are not going to teach the student only, but we are demanded to learn more, more and more. Especially, about the technology, why? Because our students will learn by technology such as blog, wiki, wattpad, tumblr, etc. They can write anything they wanted to write. Even from the shy student, they can express their opinion, their creativity, everything on their minds. They share anything by technology through wordpress, wiki, blog, tumblr, etc.
We should use blog, because blog is one of the examples from the encouragement technology in teaching learning process. Blog is not just a usual technology, but it can help us in teaching learning process to introduce new methodologies and learning environment. We could learn to promote our creative writing, and in this case can teach us to responsible in public writing.
According to the paper report written by Brad Blackstone from National University of Singapore, John Spiri from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and Naeko Naganuma from Akita International University with the title “Blogs in English language teaching and learning: Pedagogical uses and student responses” said that Blogs, which are interactive homepages that are easy to set up and manage, enable students to engage in online exchanges, thereby expanding their language study and learning community beyond the physical classroom. When a teacher utilizing blogs implements a “blogging buddy” system, which assigns each student a peer review partner to help with editing before a piece of writing (the blog post) is uploaded, the result can be an effective means of facilitating greater learner interaction and reflection on skills development.

Why should use blog ?
I don't know why, and I don't know how to use blog itself. But I think it's useful for use, to engage with globalization. As you said in our class, and showed the video about 21st Century teacher. So, we have to be a global teacher, and I think this ( using Blog )is the first act to be that.

Why should use blog?
before i answer the reason why we should use blog, i want to define the meaning of blog by my own definition.
Blog is a diary or regular record of thoughts, opinions and experiences that you put on the Internet for other people to read.
Blog provides a space for sharing opinions and learning in order to grow communities of discourse and knowledge where students and teachers can learn from each other. It can give students a totally new perspective on the meaning of voice. As students explore their own learning and thinking and their distinctive voices emerge. Student voices are essential to the conversations we need to have about learning. Besides that, blog have many advantages such as :
1. promote critical and analytical thinking.
2. promote creative, intuitive and associational thinking
3. promote analogical thinking.
4. Potential for increased access and exposure to quality information.
5. Combination of solitary and social interaction.
In conclusion, blog makes our teaching learning process easier in term of analytical and analogical thinking.

Why should use blog?
I think, there are many advantages when we use blog in this era, such as :
~By using blog, we can share our experience or our knowledge to other people in the world. Perhaps, they can give us another point of view, suggestion, comments, or critics.
~We do not just share our experience as text, but we can put video, images or other things that can attract people as readers.
~Blog can be as a media to develop our skills or our hobbies. For instance, we can write short stories, novels, or poems in our blog and the readers can give their comments easily by our blog.
~We can get many friends from local or other countries, even though we have not meet them face to face yet. I think, we able to discuss with them about our topics that we posted in our blog. Actually, they have different opinion.Thus, we can consider their opinion or their ideas to make our topics will be better.

Why should we use blog?

Why should use blog in teaching learning process?
In my opinion, there are many reason why we should use blog in teaching learning process. First, everyone can participate. Participating in blog could be by create a blog and post something, leave comments and discuss by everyone or even just read Blog to acquire his/her knowledge and appreciation for Blog's writer. We don't need to see status, ethnicity, gender or nationality of someone, she/he just needs ability to browsing in blog, write something and leave comments or even willingness to learn how to blogging. Everyone has needs to learn in his/her lifetime, by Blog she/he can read something she/he wants to know and shares information she/he has. I think share some information in blog is also one of the teaching way to the readers. Second, we can access Blog anytime, anywhere. Nowadays, we don't have to sit in front of the computer or laptop just to access blog. We can use smartphone or tablet to read Blog in order to fulfill the needs of learning. Third, Blog has many features in one package. Blog provides us to be able to post pictures, videos, links to other Blogs/Websites, graphics, sounds, archiving system, maintaining our own templates and designs, and so on. Those features couls be very difficult to be combined in real life. For example the old fashion of teaching learning process. We are a teacher and want to show the picture and sound of a tiger for our students in the classroom, we may bring the picture of tiger and tape recorder that has been recorded the sound of tiger. It is very complicated and tiring. But by Blog, we can post the pictures of tiger and the sound of it in one posting or even the video of tiger and show the students in the classroom by LCD projector. For those who let's say do not come to school when we are explaining about the tiger still can access it by him/herselves at home. The features of Blog is very useful. Fourth, Blog could motivate us. Motivating could be in the written skill, design skill, and creativity. In my own experience, if I Blogwalking and see very cool design of a Blog, I will be motivated to know how to create or design it. If I Blogwalking to Blogs whose writer is very good in English, I can learn something such as new vocabulary, writing style, and the topic they posted. In my own conlusion, why we use Blog because Blog has many functions that are very useful for teaching learning process. I ever read a nice quote by an American Writer, John Podhoretz, "Our compulsive hunger always to know first, speak first and decide first has only been amplified by the fact that we can now all participate instantly in a virtual version of a national cocktail-party conversation on Twitter, Facebook and Blogs."

Why should we use blog?
First of all, i would like to say thank you to Allah SWT, to the founder of Internet, founder world wide web and maintain the Internet itself till we can enjoy the Internet (Tim berners-lee).
Blog is in Internet, internet can be said as the connector or the bridge to make us easier in communication. Blogs are one of the most representative tools of WEB. They offer flexibility, adaptability, and integration with other tools. Blog is appropriate tool to many learning and teaching applications, particularly in higher education. Easy to use authoring tools that allow text, images, video etc to be incorporated in blog entries. Blogging is may have great value in terms of developing all sorts of critical thinking skills and writing skills. Blogging offers students a chance to a) reflect on what they are writing and thinking as they write and think it, b) carry on writing about a topic over a sustained period of time, maybe a lifetime, c) engage readers and audience in a sustained conversation that then leads to further writing and thinking and d) synthesize disparate learning experiences and understand their collective relationship and relevance. Why should use blog?
In my opinion, blogs are an interesting media that allow students to respond to each others’ ideas through comments. According to professional writer Maria Magher, she says in her article that there are 100 advantages of using blogs for both educators and students. Some of the advantages are:
1. For students
• As an independent project, blogs allow students to showcase their independence and sense of responsibility.
• Parents can view their child’s work and progress as shown on a blog.
• Students can communicate with their teachers and other students through a blog. This is especially helpful for shy students who might not otherwise reach out.
2. For teachers
• Blogs offer a community of experts to offer advise, share tips, and commiserate over experiences.
• Blogs give teachers more time. Sometimes, not everything can be fit into the lesson plan, and homework can’t stand in for instruction. Teachers can use blogs to post further instruction, additional supporting materials, and more.
• Teachers can build their professional learning network through blogs by connecting with other experts and learning about new tools in their field.

According to what you asked about the blog function teaching, I found some references to answer that and to convince everyone that it is necessary to use blog in teaching learning.
Based on the experts Carol Cooper and Lyn Boddington’s statement, they say the aims of using a blog as a vehicle for internal assessment with the class were:
-to provide a useful tool to enable learning about business ethics, and
-to provide a way of promoting interaction between students in a relatively large undergraduate class (160 students); in particular to enable students to learn from each other.
And also, blogg comes with a feature to have any posting and/or comments emailed to any email address. Once this feature was discovered it was an easy matter to monitor the blogs via email rather than having to browse each blog via the web. A blog, was also used to facilitate easier reading as students posted over the period of time allowed for the assessment. Initially we were daily checking the blog sites themselves, but ultimately it was easier, with so many sites, to check the emails of the postings made that day. Unfortunately we did not discover the ability to email comments until later in the research. Had all the students’ postings and comments come in by email it would have been easier tasks to bulk print everything from email for marking rather than having to print out from the blog.
For the teachers who ask their student to use blog, as for the aims for using a blog as an assessment tool, we have certainly proved that the tool can be used as we intended. The students liked it, but the requirements of the assessment need to be clearer, we need to provide a worked example and we definitely need to use an in-house tool to overcome many of the technical difficulties we experienced. Some students obviously enjoyed the collaborative nature of this assignment and we need to examine this further to refine our ideas about how to explore this aspect of blogging to better effect.
For me myself, blog can be relevant literacies, network effects and student engagement. Blog also facilitate an educational tool for being used by the students and also teachers. It will be interesting doing something new with students which is always challenging. The fact that none of the class had any experience (or concept) of blogs made it even more challenging.

I somehow agree with that dude/babe's statement who commented it in this blog. It is somewhat a fact, today human is nothing without technology, or the existence. Because someday, I'm certain, human will lost technology and/or bested and replaced by technology. Why lost? Blogging activities realize these principles. To illustrate, Pinkman (2005) writes that blogging becomes communicative and interactive when participants assume multiple roles in the writing process, as writers who write and post, as readers/reviewers who respond to other writers’ posts, and as writer-readers who, returning to their own posts, react to criticism of their own posts. Dieu (2004) reaffirms this by stating that blogging gives a learner the chance to “maximize focused exposure to language in new situations, peer collaboration, and contact with experts” (p. 26). Blog is very useful to engage the learning process of students. Especially, using blog is effective to debate any critical thinking of students. The students are easily to give their opinion, because blog makes them more confident that they are capable of having their own views. Blogs allow the student to express their knowledge of the information learned in a way that they like. Blogging is something that students do for fun sometimes, so when they are assigned an assignment to do a blog they are eager to do it. 1. Using blogs with students enables students to reflect on their learning activity. So, the process of learning is not only happen in the classroom, but also outside the school, without the formal meeting. Students can still do the discussion about what they have learn in school.
2. Making student blogs available to peers leads to peer learning opportunities. It means that the teacher no need to be together along the students. They can also learn by discussing via blog with their friends. Here, the teacher roles is to guide and look after the learning progress of the students.
3. Tutors can monitor both what the students have learnt but also it gives them a window into the learning process. Again, it is not about teacher, who is totally teaches the students by feeding them up. It is about how students learn unconsiously by critical thinking without the teacher.
4. Can promote critical and analytical thinking from students. Blog can train the students' ability to think critically about the lesson they have got at school.
5. Blogs encourage participation by all students. Even for the students who are not brave to be active in class, they also still want to participate via blog. They do not need to be shy to have a discussion indirectly.
6. Using blogs captures the development of thinking and ideas in students over time. It means that the progress of the students' learning are developing along their participation. They always expected to be more critical in thinking and delivering their ideas.

I think there are several benefits for teachers, students, or th school to apply blog as a teaching learning media.
The first one is cheap. our government spent trillions to increase and develop our education program. But, they should pay attention for any possibilities such as blog as a teaching media.it can help teacher deliver the material without spend too much money and time.

In my opinion, why we should use blog for English teaching leaning process because the college students had a positive attitude about blogging. It means the college students perceived blogging as an interesting and motivating learning environment because interacting through blogs helped with the critical thinking and peer feedback facets of their writing projects. Moreover, social interaction helped students improve their English skills. first, Socially deviant behavior
Deviations social behavior, among others, lack or do not want to hang out with their peers.
